Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most common dental emergencies?
Some of the common dental emergencies include severe tooth pain, cracked or broken teeth, a knocked out tooth, a lost filling or crown, dental infections, or injuries that damage the teeth or gums. These situations can quickly become more serious if left untreated.
What should I do if I have a knocked out tooth?
A knocked out tooth requires immediate dental care. Try to gently rinse the tooth without touching the root and place it back in the socket if possible. If that is not possible, store the tooth in milk or a tooth preservation solution. Then right away so our emergency dentist Laguna Niguel can attempt to save the tooth and restore your smile.
Is a lost filling or crown considered a dental emergency?
Yes, a lost filling or crown can expose the sensitive part of the tooth and cause discomfort or further damage. If you lose fillings or crowns, the tooth becomes vulnerable to bacteria and fractures. An emergency dentist can evaluate the tooth and provide a repair or replacement to restore protection and function.
What should I do if I have cracked or broken teeth?
Cracked or broken teeth can occur from biting hard foods, accidents, or sports injuries. Even if the damage appears small, it may weaken the tooth structure. Contact an emergency dentist in Laguna Niguel as soon as possible. Depending on the severity, treatment may involve dental bonding, fillings or crowns, or other restorative procedures to protect the tooth.
When should I contact an emergency dentist?
If you experience sudden tooth pain, swelling, trauma, or damage to the teeth such as cracked or broken teeth, a knocked out tooth, or a lost filling or crown. Seeking prompt care allows the dentist to diagnose the dental issue and provide the appropriate repair or replacement before the problem becomes more serious.
